What About the Children?

Children today face a number of obstacles that stand in the way of a complete education. The US government is pushing conformity in a nation that has so many different regions, people, and cultures. Do they really think that high stakes tests and strict regulations are going to better our country? What about the issues that hit home, like, health care, poverty, family, and community. Our nation seems to be consumed with money making ideas, and less with concern for our children. Our nation's children need support. As a future high school teacher and educational leader, I hope that these issues will be addressed. Children are sent to school everyday with medical needs that their parents cannot meet. Children coming to school without the basic needs like paper and pencils. Gifted children being pushed through school without being challenged because teachers have to focus on those who cannot make the grade.
The classrooms of tomorrow need to challenge all students. They need to make technology available to every students. Teachers need to have the time to inspire their students with intellect rather than pushing facts. School does not need to be a machine in order for students to get a true education. Students learn at their own pace and schools should be able to cater to this. Children need more personalized attention and public schools today are moving further and further away from this. Is it too late?

Amen I hear you The
Amen I hear you The government wants us to tech and push fact and then they wonder why kids are not doing well. I know I do but most students only hold the information long enough to take the test and then after that it's gone. It's not right and hope something is done and I want to help as a future teacher. I will not teach to the test.
I agree with all of you
I agree with all of you comments. I feel that it is very important for us to keep on fighting for better schools!
No
They dont think high stakes testing will make society better. But it will put an emphasis on the fact that the infurstructer of schools is not good. Thus, changing it to one that is economically based.
What About the Children?
I agree with your comments to the fullest extent. What really pains me is how teachers are coping with the situation in Texas. Did those children go to public school because if they did can you IMAGINE not only what the children and their parents are going through but the teachers as well? Those children are in foster homes; how are they being educated and if they were originally homeschooled does that mean they are attending public schools now? It seems mindboggling the things teachers must face while teaching students.
agree
We need to keep fighting to make our schools a better place for children.
absolutly
i agree. We should all keep fighting to make better schools and a better nation.
Amen to that.
And keep fighting for the kind of schools and nation that you believe in...
