Do we have to be so strict?
I recently was in a classroom doing a practicum and observing. It just so happens that the classroom I was observing in had a senior II intern who was teaching the lesson. She was a great teacher, had great methods, and was good at getting her first grade students the material in an exciting fashion; yet her classroom management seemed way to extreme. It seemed like all she was ever doing was calling students out for talking to much, not sitting on their bottom, walking where they weren't supposed to walk, not eating lunch, and a plethora of other things. It took everything in me not to tell her to chill out and give the students a break! Seriously, they are in first grade, that means that majority of them are 7 years old. I know that they do need some structure and discipline, but when that is all you are doing with them then they arn't going to have fun and are always going to see school as a hateful environment instead of a fun and enticing one. I hope that this is one of the only student teachers like this, although I must admit to myself I know it isn't true.

WELL....
I think it is good in a sense to have this but in another lets give the kids a break. But if you give the kids a break how far will they run with it?
opinion
I think it is so sad that a teacher acts like this. These first graders should be able to have fun in the classroom and she does need to be shown proper techniques on a better way to manage the classroom. If anybody, the teacher of the class, could talk to her after school. I mean seriously, if the student doesn't want to eat, they teacher can't stuff their food down their throat. I feel that teachers like this are the reason that students get fed up with school and drop out when they are 16.
response
it seems to me that somebody in the school should be helping her. not in a way like "your doing it wrong" but show her with proper techiniques kids will be quiter and she will be a better teacher.
Yea I know what you mean
Yea I saw teachers like that during my observations, and I was like is it that serious and I was in a kindergarten class. They yell every minute because there’s always a child not doing what they want them to do. I don’t they should yell so much at these kids, especially when they there not anything that bad. I can understand if they’re not doing work or causing problems in class. I can also see how teachers can get a little frustrated with the kids telling them to do the same thing every five minutes like sit down and stop talking. I just think that some teachers use scare tactics and yelling to get students on task, but most of the time it doesn’t work and they’re doing the same thing they just got yelled at four five minutes again.
