Becoming a teacher
Posted March 27th, 2008 by jrs0811Over the last semester I have learned much about the education field as well as myself. I strongly feel that the education courses should be more abundunt or at least allowed to students earlier into their major. I have been a HIED major for the 2 and 1/2 years and this is the first semester that I have had an education course. These classes are very important and help people realize that teaching is either what they are meant to do or whether they should find something else to do. I just feel they should be given more importance.
professional development project "culturally responsive teaching"

I intend to learn how "culturally responsive teaching" to make a welcoming environment for each student that may walk into my classroom someday. I want to be able to understand the different cultures and create a learning environment that everyone can benefit from without stereotyping or racism. It is important that every student, regardless of race, gender, or ethnic background have a equally opportunity to learn. If anyone has any advice for my research, please let me know. Thank you.

Posted February 7th, 2008 by jrs0811This is my first blog. I am a student in EDUC 3200 and my goal is to teach highschool history. Just a few weeks into the class has given me the confidence that we can all learn to be leaders and has made me realize the importance of transformative leadership in education. As most of us know too well, we all make mistakes and to this point, the fear of making mistakes as a leader has caused me to stay in the shadows too often. If anybody else has had this problem and has advice to overcome it, I would appreciate the feedback because I want to be a teacher and be the best leader to the students I will someday teach that I can be.
